Chatwait shows a sponsored line while ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini is generating a response. It is built to avoid reading, storing, or transmitting any chat content. Here is exactly what that means.
What the extension collects
Only for qualified ad impressions and clicks:
- ✓An anonymous device ID generated by the extension
- ✓The site hostname, such as chatgpt.com
- ✓The sponsored card ID that was shown
- ✓Event type — impression or click
- ✓Impression dwell time in milliseconds
- ✓Event timestamp
If you link an account, Chatwait also sends your email address and device ID to create a magic-link sign-in.
What it never collects
- ✕Your prompt text
- ✕AI responses
- ✕Chat history
- ✕Page screenshots
- ✕Browsing history outside the three supported sites
- ✕Passwords, cookies, or authentication tokens
Why we collect event data
- To count valid ad impressions and clicks
- To prevent duplicate and fraudulent impressions
- To attribute pending earnings to your anonymous device ID
- To link a device to an email address when you request it
Your controls
You can pause sponsored cards at any time from the extension popup. Pausing stores a local setting and stops new cards from being shown.
The extension is open source. Don't take our word for any of this — read the code.
